Replacing Outdated Glass

3 Signs That You Need Your Windshield Replaced

Your windshield is basically one of the most important windows on your car because it is your main source of vision. Because of this, you are going to want to make sure that you can see out of it clearly. If you have any type of damage to your windshield, you may want to consider having it repaired or replaced. However, sometimes it can be hard to determine when it needs to be replaced instead of just repaired. This article is going to discuss 3 signs that you need a windshield replacement.

Cracks That Are Located At The Edge Of Your Windshield

While cracks in the middle of your windshield are generally going to be annoying, cracks that are located at the edge of your windshield are going to be even worse. Cracks that are located on the edges of the windshield can compromise its overall structure because they actually go to the edge of the glass. These cracks are also very likely to spread out, which can make your windshield even more unstable. The more cracks that you have coming from the edge, and the farther that they reach across your windshield, the more compromised they are going to make your windshield and the harder they are going to make it to see out.

Cracks At The Line Of Vision

Another dangerous crack that will likely result in you needing to replace your windshield is a crack, or cracks, that is located at the driver's line of vision. The reason why these cracks are so dangerous is because they are going to directly block you from being able to see when you are driving. This can compromise your safety and the safety of the other drivers on the road. In fact, if you were to go in and try to have your car inspected with this type of a crack in your windshield, it wouldn't pass the safety inspection.

Pitting on the Windshield

As multiple small objects hit your car over an extended period of time, you may notice several small pits in your windshield. This is known as pitting. All of these small pits can make it hard to see out of your window when the sun or car lights hit these pits because they will scatter the light and reflect it back into your eyes. Also, if the pits get big enough or deep enough, they can begin to compromise the structure of your windshield, making it even more unsafe.
